I don't disagree with Pat on really anything he's said on Silksong, but I just do not feel much annoyance towards it.

Just like what happened with the Dung Eater and death crab, fighting the Ghostflame Dragon in heavy fog was cool as fuck by sheer coincidence.

I got so burnt out over fighting the field dragons over and over in the base game that I just avoided them altogether in the DLC. I guess to me it was an example that sometimes less is more. Allthough it sadly led to me missing out on the best NPC in the game. "I will riddle with holes your rotten hide! WITH A HAAAAAIL OF HAAARPOOOOOOONS!"

I don't think the switch is capable of handling a game with the scope of Xenoblade Chronicles X. Zelda TOTK is one of the few games that gets actually close and even then they take a ton of rendering shortcuts to keep it running at a "playable" framerate

I'm hoping Echoes of Wisdom are kind of a proof of concept to show that a game starring Zelda as the main character can be successful. So that if it does well we might get a Zelda game with some of the usual high profile behind it further down the line. Give her the sword from Twilight Princess and the magic from every other game she's been playable in to make a graceful arcane warrior/spellsword out of her. I'd be there on day one.

I really don't understand Team Cherry. They could have dropped Silksong this year or last year, make A METRIC FUCKTON of money because the Switch and PC are at the highest player amount that they have ever been (to a ridiculous degree) AND the other consoles exist too, erase all the things holding them down like all of the donations goals they promised people (dicks out to that guy who payed, like, 15k in donations?) and then they could have taken that mountain of money and freedom from their debts and then have buckled down and have had ALL THE TIME AND RESOURCES IN THE WORLD to make whatever perfected Hollow Knight game they seem so deadset on creating. Make no promises (hell, just say you'll MAYBE take less than 20 years to make it) and just fuck off to your studio to make it in peace with no one out there having any right to make demands of you to hurry the fuck up or whatever. Instead they take over a decade, almost? And say...literally nothing about anything to the people waiting for it? Hollow Knight fans have been abandoned by the devs lol, reminds me of TF2.

At this point I react to the Ulcerated Tree Spirits in the same way I do to a Bazelgeuse or the Asylum Demon. I feel little anger or passion, I just launch into autopilot and swiftly knock them down before moving on. I think the Dryleaf Gloves are really great for this task, when I punch and kick those nasty trees to death I feel somewhat satisfied.

Nintendo directs have mastered pacing. They know exactly how much screentime a game should have, what gets a summary by the narrator, what gets a dedicated trailer, what should start and end the show, when the host should appear and what they should say. No one else has really learned that formula, and the show suffer because of it.

Woolie's bathroom talk reminded me of an old SNL skit with John Goodman called "Fecal Matter", where the host's name is Fecal and it looks like just another talk show, but it's obsessively focused on literal fecal matter down to a science. John Goodman has no idea why he's there and turns out they just asked him to come on just to talk about poop being on everything.

Gotta be honest, team cherry doesn't owe us a release date, they aren't taking pre-orders and haven't made any commitment to a timeframe. The only thing they can be accused of is letting us get hyped too early, it's clearly some kind of magnum opus to them and bringing in an outside producer to just say "fuck you ship it" would be a massive mistake in my opinion.

I 100% dissagree with woolie on the style of the first "Zelda" game. I think the Link to style is the best for this.

I feel like I was the only person let down by the Metroid trailer. Everything in it was super standard. No new weapons, gadgets, or abilities. It also said "we hope it will be out in 2025" which really seemed unconfidant.

One of my favorite bits about there being an official translation for Investigations 2 is that all of the people who already played it with the fan translation and love it have to learn everyone's new localized names because the fan translation made their own. We just know a few right now but already people didn't take them well. The wildly popular Sebastian DeBeste is now Eustace Winner. EUSTACE! The prominent defense attorney Ray Shields is now the far more on the nose Eddie Fender. It just tickles me.

It's weird that Pat brought up Mortal Kombat when I think that series has the most playable characters are canonically dead. Not only that most of the characters that die end up getting resurrected as evil versions of themselves. They've basically solved this problem.

I have faith it’ll end up on the console even if it’s the final game, but imagine you bought a Switch because Prime 4 was the 2nd 1st party title ever confirmed for the platform, and then you need to buy the upgraded version 8 years later to actually play it 💀

I tried Megaton Musashi, just dipping my toes in, and I like the story, characters, visuals and music. The Login Bonuses, Daily Missions, battle pass style unlocking of multiple different currencies and other mechanics that give it the "vibe" of a gacha game do hurt the package but they aren't why I personally chose to stop playing. My problem is that I feel it is WAY too crunchy for its presentation style. tl;dr I think that, based on my limited direct experience with the game (and what I've seen online about it) if you like stat management and numeric customization then Megaton Musashi is up your alley but if you go in wanting an action game or a "robot model kit simulator" it leaves a lot to be desired. The action segments of the game feel entirely superfluous with how much it's focused on fiddling with numbers in the stat screen, and for a hotblooded super robot game that's not what it should be. Super Robot Wars is a turn-based strategy game and from what I played of Musashi this action game has more stat micromanagement than the tactics game. Sure you can auto-fill loadouts but that leads to the problem of the game balance. I was two missions in and one-shotting even elite enemies and minibosses with gear that the game was saying is on level curve. So I actually, on one of the FIRST missions, dropped my gear to minimum level to see if it would make the action more fun but it still was overtuned. I was thinking, "Huh, is that just early game jank and it gets more fun later on?" and so I looked up some videos of later stages and saw a guy one-shotting a giant endgame challenge boss. Guess that's my answer. It's like a perfect example of why I personally think a lot of action RPGs don't make sense - if you want to play the game for the action segments, the RPG elements are not only tedious but your "reward" for engaging with the RPG elements is the action being made less interesting. Some people like it, I really don't. I don't like it in basically any game it's used and the real question I ask myself is "are the combat mechanics fun enough to overlook it?" For Megaton Musashi my thought was, "I don't see them becoming better" so I dipped out before the refund window was up. The combat is not nearly polished enough - it should at least be as visceral and satisfying as a Musou. While I do have a high standard of what makes good combat I am willing to stick with poor combat to a certain extent if I like the rest of the package, it's just gotta be good enough to be engaging, not something that is essentially mashing stats against stats. Games like Gundam Breaker, or Dragon Ball Xenoverse, or Tales series are absolutely games that are designed around the stat system but they also are aware that they want the action to be satisfying to play. I still think the anime is extremely good but man the game left a bad taste in my mouth.

Actions speak louder than words Graig. However there have been no actions from Team Cherry, and your words have also been kind of shitty in the past apparently. Gettting pissy with people and saying "There are no fucking updates" doesn't endear you to anyone or Silksong either. Pat is 100% on point in this one, he is describing development hell and Elden getting a update *2 years later* that lets you summon Torrent in the final boss really just reinforces his point how they are still fine tuning it, even though it came out amazing.

The Mario was great in there. Mario fans winning on all fronts. Hell, I even think Mario Party is back.

Leading with a new Mario & Luigi when almost everyone thought that the series died with the collapse of AlphaDream half a decade ago is insane to me, and that was only one of the crazy things that were shown off. There were a few duds, but damn. For the most part this Direct played for keeps. I don’t even play Ace Attorney and even I popped off with the reveal of the Investigations Collection with an official English localization of Investigations 2.
